The C-130J is the only tactical airlifter that meets the emerging needs of armed forces worldwide. With increasing demand to operate in high temperatures and elevations as well as respond to global threats with few basing options, both range and performance in rough conditions are essential.
There is no piece of army combat equipment the C-5 cannot carry, including a 74-ton mobile bridge. The Wright brothers could have made their first flight within the C-5's cargo bay. Yet despite its size, the C-5 is amazingly versatile. Lockheed Martin has responsibility for integrating the commercial-off-the-shelf C-5 Avionics Modernization Program.
