Crescent Nebula (NGC6888)

Crescent Nebula (NGC6888) - Paul Rix (PaulRix)
Description : The Crescent Nebula, found in the constellation Cygnus, is estimated to be 5000 light years distant and 25 light years across. It was formed as a result of the central Wolf-Rayet star shedding it's outer layer combined with strong stellar wind. Shedding layers is an indication that the star is near the end of it's lifespan.

The image was taken with a Meade LX200 10in SCT, F3.3 Focal Reducer, Meade DSI Pro II camera and a Hydrogen Alpha narrowband filter.
