Changes, clean up, and more attention.

Today we added some descriptions for the Evolutionary Biology, and Oncology on the Category Page.

Starting today we'll be adding a link to a more defined description of each category; the link will be placed under each category. This will be a slow and ongoing process over the next few months.

There's been a few pages that's been left unattended, and unfinished for way too long. So, first my apology, and I'll try to rectify this situation as time warrants.

Still looking for more funding to upgrade equipment and outdated software; I do have a few leads to follow-up on. Keep your fingers crossed__it is seriously needed to function properly.

Lastly, I thank all of you for your support, and keeping science discoveries and advancements disseminated.

Just so you know, we are on track to have over three million views by the end of year, for this year.

Just a few quick notes.

1. Some have asked why we don’t include links to the research paper / journals. Well, we always have and do if there is one within the content of the articles. To make life easier we’ll also include them at the end of the article too from this point on.

Also keep in mind about 90% of our articles are officially released, and from embargo to us before the source may have even posted them to their website. So, our “Source/Credit” link is only to their index page and shall remain so.

2. A few weeks back we had removed our “Twitter” account and moved solely to Mastodon for our social media presence. You can find us there at https://mastodon.social/@sflorg

We have lost about 2k daily traffic by this move, but stand by our decision as the right thing to do.

3. We have been working on some major page changes over the last few weeks, and hope to implement them soon, yet are limited in what we can do because of the source we host on. Which brings me to number four.

4. We would like to expand back to the level Scientific Frontline used to be. . . This requires funds. Please consider contributing to make this happen as we move into our 18th year.

5. I have been doing maintenance most this weekend, but will be back to normal Monday.

Good News, and Bad News

As many of you know by now, we’ve been based in Eastern Oklahoma for the last nine years on the Brushy Mountains. Our only internet supplier has been by using satellite with a daytime cap of 10GB a month. This has been a real strain in our ability to acquire and provide. Last month they’ve been bringing Fiber Optic cable up the hills in this very rural area, and last week to us! On the 29th of August they'll have us completely installed. The bad news is that our current internet supplier will be terminated on the 25th of August due to how the billing cycle falls.

So, we will not be updating between those dates. We’ll spend the 29th after the installation testing and updating any programs or OS that we have missed out on. We do plan to resume on the 30th of August.

We appreciate your understanding and continued visits and support.
Sincerely,
Heidi-Ann Fourkiller

Well, the motherboard arrived a little after 7:00 PM yesterday about the time I finished mowing in 38C (100F.) So, at 3:00 AM I started tearing the rig down and installing the new board. After dealing with some compatibility issues, I got it up and running. . Then MS stated My Windows wasn't activated. Go activate it then. . . Oh no, MOBO change deactivated it, and the old key wouldn't work. . .Err. OK stay calm and got MS to call me, and we straightened that mess out. But we aren't done yet, we have weeks now of Window updates, and couple dozen program updates too. Oh, did I forget to mention the internet went down for two hours. Well, I'm still smiling, even though I'm frustrated.
So, with all the changes and updates completed, I knew I had to defrag. . . Tick Tock Tick Tock.
Anyhow all is done, and back to production in the morning.
Thanks for hanging around.
Heidi

We’ll be doing our weekly system and hardware cleaning along with back-up today.
I'm still working on some new pages and features, hopefully we'll get them implemented this coming week.
